شرکت "نووارتیس" به تازگی اولین داروی خوراکی موثر در درمان بیماری وخیم تخریب نورونی دستگاه عصبی را به بازار عرضه کرده است که خطر گسترش ناتوانی جسمی را در بیماران مبتلا به " ام.اس " تا حد چشمگیری کاهش می دهد .
نتایج دو بررسی که درباره این داروی جدید که FTY720 نام دارد انجام شده ، نشان دهنده این است که این مولکول از توانایی بسیار بالایی برای کاهش خطر گسترس ناتوانی جسمی، عدم تعادل و جراحات مغزی در بیماران ام.اس برخوردار است.
یکی از این تحقیقات که " ترانسفورم " نام دارد به مدت یکسال و با شرکت هزار و 292 بیمار انجام شد. که در این آزمایش داروی خوراکی FTY720 در دوز 5/0 میلیگرم موجب کاهش 52 درصدی عدم تعادل و افتادن نسبت به داروی " اینترفرون بتا- 1a" تزریق ماهیچه ای شد. این درحالی بود که با دوز 25/1 میلیگرم کاهش عدم تعادل تنها 38 درصد بود.
در تحقیق دوم که " فریدمز " نام دارد و دو سال به طول انجامید هزار و 272 بیمار در آن شرکت داشتند. نتایج این تحقیقات نشان داد که این دارو رقم عدم تعادل را نسبت به داروی کم اثر ( پلاسیبو ) با دوز 5/0 میلیگرم به میزان 54 درصد و با دوز 25/1 میلیگرم به میزان 60 درصد کاهش می دهد.
در این بیماران همچنین خطر گسترش ناتوانی در دو دوره 3 ماه و شش ماه نسبت به داروی پلاسیبو به ترتیب 30 درصد و 37 درصد کاهش یافت.
در هر دو مطالعه، کاهش چشمگیری را در توسعه جراحات مغزی فعال قابل ارزیابی با روزنانس مغناطیسی (MRI) نشان داده شده است.
شرکت داروسازی آمریکایی "نووارتیس" اولین شرکتی است که این داروی خوراکی را در مبارزه با بیماری "ام. اس" توسعه داده است که نتایج آزمایشات بالینی آن مثبت بوده است.
قابل ذکر است که نتایج این تحقیقات از سوی مقامات بهداشت و درمان آمریکایی و اروپایی مورد تائید قرار گرفته است.]
