دانشمندان کشف کردند که چرا داروهایی که زمانی امید آن می رفت که خیلی در درمان ام اس موثر باشند، به بیماران مبتلا به این بیماری کمکی نمی کنند.

یک تیم از دانشگاه آکسفورد می گوید تغییر ژنتیکی در بیماری ام اس بدین معناست که داروهایی که در درمان مبتلایان به بیماری های سیستم ایمنی، موثر هستند، روی بیماران مبتلا به ام اس تاثیری ندارند.

بر اساس گزارشی که این تیم تحقیقاتی در مجله نیچر منتشر کرده این گونه داروها حتی می توانند عوارض بیماری ام اس را تشدید کنند.

متخصصان می گویند تحقیقاتشان نشان می دهد که ژنتیک چگونه می تواند بر نوع پاسخ به داروها و درمان های مختلف اثر بگذارد.



این داروها که آنتی تی ان اف نامیده می شوند در مبتلایان به بیماری التهابی روده و آرتریت روماتوئید موثر هستند، اما بر بیماران مبتلا به ام اس تاثیری ندارند. محققان هنوز دلیل قطعی این موضوع را نمی دانند.

اعضای تیم تحقیقاتی آکسفورد یک تغییر ژنتیک خاص را که قبلا تصور می شد با بیماری ام اس ارتباط دارد، مورد مطالعه قرار دادند.

پزوهشگران متوجه شدند که ژن جهش یافته باعث تولید پروتئینی متفاوتی می شود که کوچکتر است و مانع از فعالیت تی ان اف می شود، یعنی دقیقا همان کاری را می کند که داروهای مهار کننده تی ان اف انجام می دهند. تی ان اف ماده ای است که سیستم ایمنی بدن برای دفاع در مقال عفونتها و تومورها ترشح می کند اما خود آن می تواند علائمی را ایجاد کند که برای کاهش آنها ممکن است نیاز به درمان باشد.

به این ترتیب روشن می شود که چرا ده سال پیش، یک تحقیق پزشکی نشان داد که این داروها بیماری ام اس را تشدید می کنند.

نیک رایک، مدیر بخش تحقیقات جمعیت ام اس در این باره گفت ژن های زیادی به بیماری ام اس مربوط هستند ولی در مورد اینکه هر کدام دقیقا چه نقشی دارند، اطلاعات اندکی داریم .

به گفته او، تحقیقات مهم اخیر نشان داده است که برخی ژن های جوان در این باره که بیمار به دارویی پاسخ مثبت بدهد یا خیر، نقش تعیین کننده دارند.

آقای رایک می گوید نتایج این تحقیقات به پزشکان کمک می کند که در آینده به هر بیمار مبتلا به ام اس، دارویی را تجویز کنند که برایش موثر باشد.
