در یک مطالعه جدید مشخص شد که فاکتورهای تغذیه‌ای و سیگار می‌توانند دوره بیماری ام اس را در مبتلایان به نوع خفیف‌تر این بیماری تغییر دهند.


به گزارش سرویس سلامت ایسنا، مطالعه روی برگشت پذیری ام اس در ۹۰۰ بیمار داوطلب نشان داد بیمارانی که به طور منظم از کافئین و ماهی استفاده می‌کنند کمتر به مرحله‌ای از بیماری می‌رسند که برای راه رفتن نیاز به کمک کردن داشته باشند. این مرحله از ام.اس بعنوان نقطه عطف در این بیماری در نظر گرفته می‌شود.


آزمایشات تایید کرد در عوض استعمال سیگار خطر بروز زودهنگام این قبیل ناتوانی‌ها را در مبتلایان به ام اس افزایش می‌دهد.


بنا بر گزارش سایت اینترنتی هلت دی نیوز، دکتر ماری دی هوگ متخصص نورولوژی بالینی در بلژیک که سرپرستی این مطالعه را بر عهده داشته یادآور شد: یک توصیف برای این مطالعه آن است که عوامل تغذیه‌ای می‌توانند نقش حفاظتی مستقیم در مبتلایان به ام اس ایفا کنند. این متخصصان تاکید کردند: نقش کافئین و ماهی در کاهش التهاب و خواص ضدالتهابی این خوردنی‌ها از مدت‌ها پیش شناخته شده است. از سوی دیگر متمرکز شدن التهاب در مغز و ستون فقرات از جنبه‌های مهم بیماری ام اس هستند. بنابراین گزارش ام اس یک بیماری علاج ناپذیر در سیستم عصبی است.


متخصصان تاکید دارند با وجود بدست آمدن نتایج فوق این بیماران نباید بدون مشورت با پزشک مصرف مواد غذایی مذکور را افزایش دهند چون تا رسیدن به نتایج قطعی، هنوز انجام مطالعات بیشتر ضروری است.


در این بررسی‌ها هنوز ثابت نشده است که مصرف کافئین روند پیشرفت ام اس را کند خواهد کرد. آمارها نشان می‌دهد که در حال حاضر بیش از ۳۵۰ هزار نفر در آمریکا و حدود ۲/۵ میلیون نفر در سراسر دنیا به ام اس مبتلا هستند.
