در بیماری ام اس غالبا مناطقی در سیستم مرکزی اعصاب (CNS) را در گیر میکند که منجر به بروز علائم خاصی نمی شود.
بنابر این خیلی مهم است که تاریخچه ی بیماری خود را به طور مرتب با تصویر برداری MRI مرور کنید.

با اینحال ممکن است نتایج MRI با روند بیماری شما همخوانی نداشته باشد اما آنچه که مبنای مراقبت پزشکی حرفه ای از شما خواهد بود نتایج همین عکس ها ست.

انواع Mri :
دو نوع اسکن MRI به طور معمول برای تصویر برداری از ضایعات ام اس استفاده می شود. آنها با دستکاری پالس موج رادیو در MRI به روش های مختلف این کار را انجام می دهند.

نوع T1:
در این نوع اسکن، که برای شناسایی ضایعات قدیمی بسیار مفید است، مناطق غیر طبیعی به عنوان نقاط تاریک ظاهر می شوند. در این نوع تصویر برداری اطلاعات مفید آناتومی نیز حاصل میشود.

نوع T2:
در این نوع از تصویر برداری جزئیات به اندازه ی T1 کامل نیست و ضایعات قدیمی و جدید هردو نشان داده میشوند و معمولا جهت تشخیص بکار می رود.
تصاویر T2 می توانند به طور منظم در طول زمان تکرار شوند. و متخصص می تواند روند بیماری را در طول زمان مرور کند.

به طور مثال یک پلاک در مغز می تواند باعث سرگیجه و پلاکی که در گردن قرار گرفته است می تواند منجر به احساس گزگز در انتهای دست ها و پاها شود.

* نوع دیگری نیز برای ام اس استفاده میشود که اسکن با چگالی پروتن می باشد در این روش جهت مطالعه ی ضایعات در بطن های مغز (نواحی در زیر معز) مفید است.

نکات:
به طور کلی ضایعات بین 1-2 ماه روشن باقی می می مانند.
تزریق کنتراست یا ماده حاجب به پیدا کردن ضایعات فعال در مغز کمک میکند. این ماده بوسیله ی خون به مویرگ های مغز پمپاژ شده و از اطراف ضایعه نشد میکند.
خوشبختانه برخی از درمان ها امروزه تا 90% از بروز این ضایعات جلو گیری میکنند.( برخی از این درمان ها را می توانید اینجا پیدا کنید.)
خیلی از پلاک ها باعث نمی شوند که علائمی در شما بروز کند.
