تاريخچه دويك.

در سال 1870, Sir Thomas Clifford Allbutt براي اولين بار ارتباط و پيوستگي بين التهاب طناب نخاعي و اختلال عصب اپتيك را گزارش كرد.

و در سال 1894, Eugene Devic به همراه دانشجوي دكتراي خود Fernand Gault تعدادي(16) بيمار كه بينايي خود را در يك چشم و يا هر دو از دست داده بودند. و در يك دوره ي هفت روزه به تدريج اسپاسم عضلاني انها در اندام هاي زيرين گسترش پيدا كرده بود. و هم چنين حس اكثر اندام ها و كنترل ادرار خود را از دست داده بودند ,  را مورد شرح و بررسي قرار دادند.
و انها تشخيص دادند كه اين نشانه ها نتيجه التهاب عصب اپتيك و طناب نخاعي است.
نمونه هاي مشابه ديگري از التهاب عصب اپتيك و طناب نخاعي گزارش شدند. و تعداد زيادي معتقد بودند كه اين تركيبي است از نشانه هاي باليني واضح التهاب عصبي. هر چند كه تعداد ي از بيماران از نظر اسيب شناسي يا پاتولوژي, در قسمت هايي از مغزشان ويژگي و مشخصه اي داشتند كه بيشتر به ADEM يا MS اشاره ميكرد.
در سال 2004 محققان Mayo Clinic تشخيص دادند كه پروتئين aquaporin 4 هدف اصلي اين بيماري است.
و يك ازمايش(NMO-IgG) طراحي كردند كه به تشخيص اين بيماري كه سندرم دويك ياDevic Disease نام نهاده شد كمك كند .كه در اين ازمايش تشخيص از طريق شناسايي انتي بادي ها در خون انجام ميگيرد.
ممكن است نتيجه ازمايش برخي از بيماران مثبت باشد. در حالي كه برخي ديگر ممكن است كه هنوز نشانه هاي باليني بيماري در انها به خوبي شكل نگرفته باشد .ولي از نظر خون شناسي ازمايش انها هنوز يك قسمتي مهم از روند تشخيص بيماري است. و نتايج مثبت و منفي اين ازمايش ميتواند در تشخيص ها بسيار مفيد واقع شود. بر طبق گزارش Mayo Clinic اين اولين بار بوده است كه يك هدف مولكولي براي نوعي از التهاب عصبي شناسايي شده است.

دکتر من قبل از اینکه برام اینترفرون تجویز کنه گفت چون درمان دویک با ام اس فرق داره برای اطمینان بیشترآزمایش nmoانجام بده ......اگه اشتباه نکنم فقط توی آزمایشگاه جردن تهران انجام میشه و جواب آزماشم منفی بودو دویک نداشتم.....ولی دکترم فهمید به جاش یه چیز دیگه داشتم اگه گفتیدچی؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟!
