محققان مي گويند كه نوشيدن الكل نه تنها مي تواند علائم آرتروز روماتيسمي را تخفيف دهد بلكه به نظر مي رسد كه در مجموع از شدت اين بيماري نيز مي كاهد.

دانشمندان در دانشگاه شفيلد از دو گروه از بيماران مبتلا و غيرمبتلا به آرتروز خواستند كه اطلاعاتي درباره عادات خود در زمينه نوشيدن الكل ارائه كنند.

آنها دريافتند كه بيماراني كه بيشتر الكل مي نوشيدند از درد و تورم مفصلي كمتري رنج مي بردند.

متخصصان مي گويند كه بيماران نبايد اين يافته را چراغ سبزي براي نوشيدن بيشتر الكل تعبير كنند. بيماران اين مطالعه بيش از ميزان توصيه شده توسط دولت بريتانيا يعني حداكثر 10 بار در هفته الكل نمي نوشيدند.

در اين مطالعه 873 بيمار مبتلا به آرتروز روماتيسمي با 1004 نفر كه به آن مبتلا نبودند مقايسه شدند.

از هر دو گروه خواسته شد بگويند كه در يك ماه منتهي به زمان شروع مطالعه چقدر الكل نوشيده اند.

بيماران يك پرسشنامه را پر كردند، مورد عكسبرداري راديوگرافي و آزمايش خون قرار گرفتند و پرستار مفاصل آنها را معاينه كرد.
'خسارت كمتر'

دكتر جيمز ماكسول مشاور روماتولوژي و نويسنده اصلي اين مقاله در باره نتايج آن توضيح داد.

او گفت: "ما دريافتيم كه شدت علائم بيماري در بيماراني كه بيشتر الكل نوشيده بودند در مقايسه با كساني كه اصلا الكل نمي خوردند يا خيلي كم مي خوردند كمتر بود."

محققان دريافتند كه عكس هاي راديوگرافي نشان داد كه مفاصل آنها آسيب كمتري ديده بود و آزمايش خون نيز نشان دهنده ميزان تورم پايين تر بود و درد و تورم و ناتواني كمتري در مفاصل حس مي كردند.

آنها مي گويند كه هنوز نمي دانند چرا نوشيدن الكل از شدت آرتروز روماتيسمي و آسيب پذيري مردم در ابتلا به آن مي كاهد.

دكتر ماكسول گفت شواهدي هست كه نشان مي دهد الكل فعاليت سيستم مصونيت بدن را كاهش مي دهد و اين ممكن است مسيرهاي گسترش آرتروز را مختل كند.

نويسندگان مقاله مي گويند كه براي تاييد اين نتايج به تحقيقات بيشتري نياز است. به علاوه آنها بر لزوم تحقيقاتي براي كشف علت تاثير الكل بر اين بيماري تاكيد كردند.

تحقيقات قبلي نشان داده بود كه الكل ممكن است خطر ابتلا به اين بيماري را كاهش دهد.

در مطالعه تازه احتمال ابتلا به اين بيماري در كساني كه الكل مصرف نمي كردند در مقايسه با كساني كه ماهي بيش از ده بار الكل مي نوشيدند چهار برابر بيشتر بود.

اما يك سخنگوي تحقيقات آرتروز بريتانيا، موسسه اي كه از تامين كنندگان مالي مطالعه بود، گفت: "ما نمي خواهيم كه مبتلايان به آرتروز روماتيسمي اين را از مطالعه برداشت كنند كه بايد بروند و شروع به نوشيدن مكرر الكل آن هم به مقدار زياد كنند زيرا مي تواند براي سلامتشان خطرناك باشد."

او گفت بعضي از معالجات براي اين بيماري مانند داروي متوتركسات كه سيستم دفاعي را سركوب مي كند مي تواند در صورت مصرف بالاي الكل به كبد آسيب برساند.
