کشف راه حل جديد در درمان بيماري ام.اس - فعال کردن شيوه ‌«RXR» يک مسير حياتي براي ايجاد سلول است.
مطالعات جدید نشان مي‌دهند که علت آسيب سلول‌هاي عصبي در تصلب بافتي متعدد (MS) مي‌تواند با فعال کردن سلول‌هاي بنيادي در بدن درمان شوند.مطالعه‌ جديد بر روي موش‌ها نشان داد مغز خود بيمار مي‌تواند بر روي توليد دوباره‌ اين غلاف چربي تحريک شود. فعال کردن شيوه ‌«RXR» که يک مسير حياتي براي ايجاد سلول است و موجب تبديل سلول‌هاي بنيادي مغز و نخاع به سلول‌هاي سازنده‌ غلاف چربي مي‌شود‌، مي‌تواند به سلول‌هاي بنيادي مغزي کمک کند تا اين غلاف چربي را ترميم کنند.
دکتر «رابين فرانکلين» سرپرست اين تحقيق از دانشگاه کمبريج گفت‌: اين کشف بسيار جالب است چرا که مي‌تواند به يافتن داروهاي مفيد براي ترميم آسيب‌هاي اين سلول‌هاي عصبي و حفاظت از آنها در مغز به ما کمک کند.
وي ادامه داد‌: ما هشدار مي‌دهيم که اين مسير درماني غير قابل پيش بيني است اما، مي‌توان گفت که حداقل يک شيوه‌ درماني را براي پيشرفت در اين زمينه پيدا کرده ايم.
دکتر فرانکلين افزود‌: آزمايشات مقدماتي بر روي اين داروها تا 5 سال آينده شروع خواهد شد و درمان اين بيماري تا 15 سال ديگر در اختيار افراد قرار مي‌گيرد.
