نتيجه يك پژوهش تازه در امريكا نشان مي دهد كه احتمال گرايش فرزندان زناني كه در دوران حاملگي زياد سيگار مي كشند به جرم و جنايت در سنين بزرگسالي، بيشتر است.

در جريان اين مطالعه كارشناسان بهداشت عمومي دانشگاه هاروارد، كساني را مورد مطالعه قرار داده اند كه از اواخر دهه پنجاه ميلادي تا اواسطه دهه شصت متولد شده بودند.

مضرات مصرف سيگار در دوران حاملگي و آسيب هايي كه سيگار كشيدن به جنين وارد مي كند، سال هاست كه ثابت شده است.

اما در مورد نظريه اي كه مي گويد كودكان متولد شده از مادران سيگاري در سنين بزرگسالي شان بيشتر مرتكب جرم مي شوند، هنوز ابهاماتي وجود دارد.

اين تحقيق بر روي سه هزار و ۸۰۰ نفر انجام شده است كه بين سال هاي ۱۹۵۹ و ۱۹۶۶ متولد شده اند. مادران نزديك به دو سوم اين افراد، در دوران حاملگي سيگار مي كشيدند.

محققان كه براي انجام تحقيقاتشان به سوابق قضايي اين افراد دسترسي داشتند، مي گويند فرزندان مادراني كه در روز دست كم ۲۰ نخ سيگار مي كشيدند، ۳۱ درصد بيشتر از فرزندان مادراني كه سيگاري نبودند، بازداشت شده اند.

تكرار انجام كارهاي خلاف هم در بين آنها بيشتر ديده شده است.

دكتر آنجلا پاراديس، مسئول اين گروه تحقيقاتي، مي گويد آنها به طور دقيق نمي دانند كه چرا سيگار كشيدن مادران در دروان بارداري چنين تاثيري دارد.

با اين حال دكتر پارادايس مي گويد بر اساس تحقيقات ديگري كه در اين باره انجام شده است به نظر مي رسد كه اين مشكل نتيجه تاثيرات بيولوژيكي است كه نيكوتين بر مغز در حال رشد مي گذارد. او مي گويد كه اين تاثير مي تواند باعث بروز ناهنجاري هاي رفتاري در كودكان شود.

در اين مطالعه زناني كه در دوران حاملگي سيگار مي كشيدند در مقايسه با مادراني كه سيگار نمي كشيدند، جوانتر، با تحصيلات كمتر و از طبقات محرومتر جامعه بودند.

اما محققان مي گويند در تحقيقاتشان اين عوامل را هم در نظر گرفته اند و باز هم به نتيجه مشابه اي دست يافتند.

بين فرزندان دختر و پسر متولد شده از اين زنان نيز تفاوتي مشاهده نشده است.

تحقيقاتي كه در گذشته انجام شده نشان داده است كه بين سيگار كشيدن در دوران بارداري و ناهنجاري هاي رفتاري كودكان، مثل بيش فعالي، پرخاشگري و نافرماني، رابطه مستقيمي وجود دارد.
