آب نقش حیاتی در سلامت ورزشکاران و اجرای حرکات آنها دارد


ورزشکاران در صورتی که می خواهند بهترین اجرای خود را به نمایش بگذارند باید قبل از احساس تشنگی اقدام به آشامیدن آب نمایند.اگر ورزشکاری بدلیل از دست دادن آب2% از وزن بدن خود را از دست بدهد اجرای حرکاتش با اختلال روبرو می شود و نیز مشخص گردیده که ورزشکاران در هر جلسه تمرین بیشتر از 2% از وزن بدن خود را به خاطر عرق کردن از دست می دهند .

انسان تنها موجودی است که به اختیار می تواند از آشامیدن آب اجتناب نماید بنابراین به اندازه کافی آب از دست داده را جایگزین نمی کند. ورزشکاران بخصوص در ضمن تمرینات طولانی باید تشویق شوند که بیشتر از آنچه نیاز دارند آب بیاشامند. از دست دادن آب باعث فشار بر قلب و عروق می گردد که بخشی از آن بدلیل کاهش حجم خون منتج از کاهش آب در اثر تعریق است که این فشار نیز موجب افزایش تعداد ضربان قلب و نیز درجه حرارت بدن می شود وعلائم آن عبارتند از ناراحتی عمومی،خستگی،بی تفاوتی،کاهش روحیه و نیز ناتوانی و عدم تمایل در اجرای با قدرت حرکات.این علائم زمانی آشکار می شوند که بیش از2% از وزن بدن بدلیل از دست دادن آب کاهش یابد. بدلیل اینکه تشنگی محرک کافی برای نوشیدن آب نمی باشد لذا لازم است که ورزشکار قبل و بعد از تمرین خود را وزن نماید. مربی نیز باید از وجود ورزشکارانی که در تمرین بیش از 2% از وزن بدن خود را از دست می دهند آگاهی داشته باشد. ورزشکارانی که بیش از 2% از وزن بدن خود را از دست می دهند آنهائی هستند که قبل و ضمن مسابقه یا تمرین به اندازه کافی آب نمی آشامند. با آشامیدن آب قبل و ضمن تمرین یا مسابقه می توان از کمبود آب بدن جلوگیری نمود. اگر علائم کمبود آب به دلیل تعریق ظاهر گردد جایگزین کردن آن ممکن است ساعت ها به طول انجامد و در نتیجه اجرای حرکات نقصان می یابد
