در هر فروشگاه، مغازه، کیوسک روزنامه فروشی و یا هر جای دیگری که فکرش را بکنید آدامس وجود دارد. این ماده ی جویدنی کش‌دار برای تازه‌تر کردن نفس و یا تمیز کردن دندان‌ها بعد از غذا خوردن خوب است. اما همیشه این سوال وجود دارد که آیا آدامس برای سلامتی مفید است یا مضر؟ اثرات مثبت آن چیست؟ چه مضراتی می‌تواند داشته باشد؟ از چه نوع آدامسی باید استفاده کرد؟ در این مطلب قصد داریم به این سوالات پاسخ دهیم. لطفا با ما باشید.


آدامس با قند

آدامس‌های شیرین حاوی قند همانطور که از اسمشان پیداست از قند درست می‌شوند. بهتر است از جویدن این نوع آدامس‌ها بپرهیزید چون در طولانی مدت باعث جرم دندان و خرابی زودهنگام به مینای دندان‌ها می‌شوند.


آدامس با شیرین‌کننده‌های مصنوعی مانند آسپارتام، گزیلیتول و سوربیتول

این نوع آدامس‌ها حاوی قند نیستند اما برای ساخت آن‌ها از شیرین‌کننده‌های مصنوعی استفاده می شود. این شیرین‌کننده‌ها از ترکیبات سنتزی تشکیل می‌شوند. قدرت شیرین‌کنندگی این ترکیبات بالاتر از قند است و برخلاف قند حاوی کالری اندکی هستند. این قبیل آدامس‌ها باعث جرم و پوسیدگی دندان نمی‌شوند.


آدامس با آسپارتام

رایج‌ترین شیرین‌کننده‌ی مصنوعی آسپارتام است. اگر لیست ترکیبات غذایی را بخوانید بدون شک با این ترکیب برخورد خواهید کرد. در سرتاسر جهان بیش از 5 هزار ماده ی غذایی از این شیرین‌کننده‌ی مصنوعی ساخته می‌شود که آدامس نیز جزو آن‌ها می باشد. باید بدانید که نتایج بررسی‌های متعدد نشان داده است که این شیرین‌کننده‌ی مصنوعی عوارض جانبی روی سیستم عصبی به جا گذاشته و باعث بروز مشکلاتی از قبیل سردرد، حالت تهوع و مشکلات بینایی می‌شود.
برخی از پژوهش‌ها نشان می‌دهد که جویدن آدامس باعث افزایش تمرکز، افزایش هشیاری، خوش خلقی و کاهش استرس و اضطراب می‌شود. به عقیده ی برخی از محققان زمانی که ما در حال جویدن چیزی باشیم استرس‌مان کاهش پیدا می‌کند

آدامس با گزیلیتول

بیشتر کارخانجات تولیدکننده‌ی آدامس از گزیلیتول استفاده می‌کنند که از عصاره ی میوه های وحشی کوچک گرفته می‌شود و به جای قند استفاده می‌شود. نتایج بررسی ها نشان می‌دهد که این شیرین کننده میزان باکتری‌های مضر داخل دهان را کاهش می‌دهد. در واقع این ماده به حفظ تعادل شیمیایی دهان کمک کرده و به این ترتیب از تشکیل جرم‌های دندان پیشگیری می‌کند. گزیلیتول باعث خنثی شدن اسید شده و از مینای دندان محافظت می‌کند. علاوه بر این گزیلیتول باعث تحریک ترشح بزاق می‌شود که این مسئله باعث از بین بردن پلاک ها و بقایای مواد غذایی از رو و لای دندان‌ها می‌شود.


آدامس با سوربیتول

سوربیتول یکی دیگر از جایگزین‌های قند است که در ترکیب آدامس استفاده می‌شود. این ترکیب نیز مانند گزیلیتول حاوی خواص آنتی باکتریال است. با این حال مصرف زیاد آن می‌تواند به قدرت جذب کنندگی روده ها را کاهش دهد و اثرات ملینی به جا بگذارد.

آدامس برای بهداشت دهان و دندان

نتایج پژوهش‌های متعدد نشان می‌دهد که جویدن آدامس‌های بدون قند باعث افزایش سلامت دهان می‌شود. به عقیده ی متخصصان جویدن آدامس می‌تواند باعث تحریک ترشح بزاق شده و از پوسیدگی و جرم‌های دندانی جلوگیری کند. از این گذشته این کار باعث تقویت مینای دندان؛ کاهش خطر خونریزی و ورم لثه بشود. در واقع ترشح زیاد بزاق در حین جویدن آدامس باعث خنثی شدن اسید تولید شده از کربوهیدرات ها می‌شود. بعد از غذا، pH دندانی اسیدی می‌شود که این مسئله باعث تضعیف دندان‌ها شده و آن‌ها را مستعد پوسیدگی می‌کند. در این مواقع است که جویدن آدامس حاوی سوربیتول می‌تواند باعث کاهش آسیب‌های احتمالی شود. البته توجه داشته باشید که نمی‌شود آدامس جویدن را جایگزین رعایت بهداشت کامل دهان و دندان کرد. توصیه می‌کنیم که روزانه حداقل دو مرتبه دندان‌هایتان را مسواک بزنید و از نخ دندان استفاده کنید.


آدامس برای افزایش تمرکز و استرس زدایی

نتایج برخی از پژوهش‌ها نشان می‌دهد که جویدن آدامس باعث افزایش تمرکز، افزایش هشیاری، خوش خلقی و کاهش استرس و اضطراب می‌شود. به عقیده ی برخی از محققان زمانی که ما در حال جویدن چیزی باشیم استرس‌مان کاهش پیدا می‌کند. در واقع محققان به این نتیجه رسیده اند که میزان هورمون کورتیزول(همان هورمون استرس) در حین جویدن کاهش پیدا می‌کند. به عقیده ی این محققان فعالیت عضلانی جویدن نیز باعث افزایش ضربان قلب و تنفس می‌شود. در نتیجه مغز اکسیژن بیشتری دریافت می‌کند و سطح هشیاری آن بالا می رود.

آدامس جویدن می‌تواند باعث سردردهای میگرنی شود

نتایج پژوهشی که در ژانویه ی سال 2014 در مجله ی Pediatric Neurology به چاپ رسیده است نشان می‌دهد که جویدن مداوم آدامس در طولانی مدت می‌تواند یکی از عوامل پیدایش دردهای میگرنی در بین برخی از نوجوانان و کودکان شود. به عقیده ی این محققان جویدن طولانی مدتی یکی از مکانیسم های برانگیزنده ی سردرد است.


آدامس جویدن باعث نفخ می‌شود

جویدن آدامس باعث افزایش ترشح بزاق می‌شود. زمانی که آدامس می‌جوید در عین حال هوا را نیز می‌بلعید که این کار باعث بروز مشکلات گوارشی مانند نفخ می‌شود. به عقیده ی محققان جویدن آدامس در برخی مواقع بعد از غذا می‌تواند مفید باشد اما زیاده‌روی در این کار همانند هر نوع افراط دیگر برای سلامتی چندان سودمند نخواهد بود به خصوص اگر از مشکلات گوارشی مانند نفخ رنج می‌برید.
